Koyeleanchal is a story that begins in present day Bastar district of Chhattisgarh state, India, while Maoists insurgency is going on since last many years there. A passenger bus full of innocent people is stopped by a group of Maoists and is threatened by the rebels to give away the names of three Bastar leaders if they want to save their lives. One passenger from the bus mentions the name of Koyla Rekha Marandi, who was a tribal leader murdered by Maoists in 2007. In flashback, it shows how Koyla Rekha Marandi becomes a village leader and later a state level politician. She becomes an enemy of the Maoist party because she believes that Naxalites are a menace for our democracy and peace. She does not support the Indian state's counter-narcotics policy or its military strategy in Bastar. Koyla Rekha Marandi, a female chhattisgarhi tribal leader who was named Koyla by her parents, plays an important role in the story. She was born into a poor family but became the head of her household at a very young age. Her father Rama Marandi was also a communist revolutionary who believed that the Maoist movement should be supported because it is fighting for the poor people of India against feudalism and injustice. Her mother Kamla Marandi worked as an unskilled laborer while her father used to work as a tea seller in Mumbai. 8eeb4e9f32 50
